In January-March 2021, the Commissions for consideration of issues related to the provision of monetary compensation to affected persons, whose houses (apartments) were destroyed as a result of an emergency military situation caused by armed aggression of the Russian Federation established at Donetsk and Luhansk Regional State Administrations have adopted a decision to pay monetary compensation for the destroyed housing in the total amount of UAH 20.285 million.

In particular, that is the provision of compensation to 76 affected persons who are owners of 72 housing facilities.

"This year, the Ministry for Reintegration of the Temporary Occupied Territories of Ukraine plans to provide compensation for the destroyed housing to more than 300 families. The funds are provided in the budget," said Inna Drahanchuk, Deputy Minister for Reintegration of the TOT.

According to her, the preliminary inventory of the destroyed facilities conducted by Luhansk and Donetsk Regional State Administrations read that up to 375 families need compensation in Luhansk oblast, and 318 families need compensation in Donetsk oblast.

It is important, that not housing replacement is meant but rather compensation for loss of housing. This in no way excludes further steps on provision of evidence of destruction and compensation by the Russian Federation of the actual financial loss due to destruction of housing – the Ministry for Reintegration of TOT has already developed the draft bill “On the State Policy of the Transition Period”, which has now been submitted for review to the central executive bodies, scientists, specialists - up to 160 respondents in total.

Upon receipt of the generalized list of victims, the Ministry for Reintegration of TOT will distribute the budget funds to the regional social security department of Donetsk oblast, which will further, within five days following receipt of such funds at its bank account, make payments to the affected persons.
